The position of the left-back in a football team gives a player many responsibilities. They must defend, under the unit major defensive, and start and take part in the attack movements. Left decides traditionally wear the number three shirt and are generally Part of the back-four with two backs and a rear center right.
As the game of football has evolved, the role left behind is becoming more than one attack position, whose defenders are often very effective when in the future. The skills required to make a great left back include tackling, pace and spend the day with more complete modern left-back also with great ball skills and crossing.
The best left back I've ever seen has enjoyed a career of twenty-four years at a club. Something rare in modern football, this man a club has also played 126 times for his country, scoring seven goals. This highly decorated football player, is the Italian international Paolo Cesare Maldini.
Maldini is the perfect left back. Strong in the tackle, a team leader and example to the rest of his team, and dangerous when moving forward. Maldini is also highly professional and dedicated, that his collection of achievements and awards suggest.
Paolo Maldini has played eight finals of the UEFA Champions League, winning five times from 1988 to 2007. He also collected seven league titles in Serie A, five UEFA Super Cup victories and five medals Supercoppa Italiana. Despite his extraordinary career as a club, he has won any major international tournaments, as he had retired when Italy won the World Cup in 2006.
Maldini is a shining example of professionalism and commitment in the modern game and competitive football. Another left back who plays the hard work and determination is the Brazilian international Roberto Carlos. The little Brazilian has played in three Cup World, finishing second in 1998 and won the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea.
Playing for five clubs in his career, especially Real Madrid, Roberto Carlos is known for his powerful short-term and drew thunderous. From the position of left back, he scored 46 goals in 370 appearances Madrid and the creation of many more goals with his pace and quality crossing.
Roberto Carlos scored one of the biggest kicks ever when his curling shot deflect defied logic and found its way into the net against the France June 3, 1997. The famous strike was televised and showed a ball boy ten yards wide of the goal ducking for cover, the ball swerved so much.
As his victory FIFA World Cup and finalist medals, Carlos has won four La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League wins and two championship titles in Brazil. Carlos plays always professionally in Turkey, at the age of thirty-five years, although he retired from international law in 2006.
There are low many other great left backs in the world who have either strong or great defensive capabilities attacking skills. One of the best the combination is England and Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole. Although relatively young, Cole has built a reputation as a strong advocate of strong performances for club and country.
Cole began his career at Arsenal, with a loan spell at Crystal Palace, winning two titles in the FA Premier League and three FA Cups. His transfer to Chelsea has been clouded in controversy, as he attended a meeting with leaders Chelsea inappropriate while he was still an Arsenal player. He was fined 100,000 pounds, and his reputation damaged but also to join a team that won two league titles last not only win a title in his first two seasons.
Cole is the pace and aggression and races ahead are a shining example of modern times, the left rear. His performance allowed him to sit its position as the England international first choice left back with 67 caps, despite strong competition from his club teammate Wayne Bridge.
Cole and Carlos are both excellent examples of the great avant-garde left back, while Maldini combines the traditional defensive role and to be a danger in the opposing penalty area. These three great left back took the role and set the highest possible standards for future generations imitate.
